The GEARS Code of Conduct

The GEARS Code of Conduct

GEARS is all about “Innovation and Learning through Inquiry and Competition.” Its goal is to be a fun and safe environment where everyone’s conduct aids the learning process.

This conduct can be best described as honest, civil, courteous, and responsible.

The GEARS member Pledge:

As members of GEARS, we recognize the importance of technology, and how it affects our quality of life.

We hereby commit ourselves to the concept of “Innovation and Learning through Inquiry and Competition” as a way to develop and showcase new technologies to benefit our community and ourselves.

We hereby agree:

  • To foster the understanding of Engineering and Robotics within our community.

  • To encourage new ideas and creativity in individual and group activities.

  • To never be afraid to ask “dumb” questions, or admit to not knowing something. That’s how we learn.

  • To be responsible for demonstrating conduct that creates, promotes, and maintains a learning environment that is open to all people, regardless of race, religion, gender, disability or age.

  • To respect our mentors and fellow team members at all times.

  • To exhibit Courteous Professionalism, especially during competitions.

  • To avoid injury to ourselves, to others, and their property.

  • To support all Society members in following this code of conduct.
